Warroad, Minn. - Robert Allan Peterson, 56 of Warroad, Minn. went home to be with Jesus Jan. 10, 2013, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born June 16, 1956 on the Francis E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyo. to Allan and Phyllis (Sundquist) Peterson.
He grew up on a farm in Aneta, N.D. As a young boy he enjoyed trapping muskrats and mink and raising his pigs. He also had 34 head of cattle when he graduated.
Bob took an interest in carpentry while in high school and finished his bedroom in the basement of his family home. He graduated from Aneta High School in 1974. He was involved in basketball, 4-H, and band. He attended East Grand Forks AVTI in 1975 for Farm Mechanics and Management. In 1976, he worked for Preston Implement in East Grand Forks.
He married Nancy Thortsen in Warroad, Minn. Oct. 16, 1976. They had four children, Wade, Tanya, Sarah, and Tami.
Bob and Nancy farmed and milked cows in Aneta, N.D. until they moved to Warroad in 1984. Bob became employed with Marvin Windows and Doors from 1984 to present. During his career at Marvin’s he worked in the plant until 1994 and drove truck until 2001. He then took a supervisor position in the Field Service Dept., where he worked for the last 12 years. He was recognized for outstanding service and excellence and was presented the prestigious President’s Award.
On Aug. 10, 2007, Bob married Cathy (Klegstad/Maloney) and welcomed a stepson Michael Maloney.
In 1995, he was diagnosed with chronic myloginist leukemia, which required a bone marrow transplant with his brother Mark being the donor. In 2001, Bob contracted pneumococcal meningitis which resulted in below the knee bilateral amputation and required him to use prostheses. In 2010, he was diagnosed with head and neck cancer located at the base of the tongue. The head and neck cancer metastasized in 2012 to the lining of the lungs and chest lymph nodes.
Bob enjoyed fishing and spending time with Cathy and his family. Some of Bob’s interests and hobbies included planting trees, cutting wood, and gardening.  He loved telling stories and reminiscing. Most of Bob’s heart was in farming. He loved going back “home” to Aneta to help his brother Mark in the field. Bob was known for his compassion, silly sense of humor, and sharp wit.
Through all of Bob’s struggles, he stayed strong and was an inspiration to many; he never gave up and fought a long hard fight. He was always thanking God for one more day.
