With her loving family present, Muriel Vagle, 82, died at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D. Jan. 24, 2013.
Muriel Joan Enquist was born Aug. 31, 1930 at the Kittson Co. Memorial Hospital in Hallock, Minn., the daughter of Julius and Edna (Grandquist) Enquist. This was also her parent’s first wedding anniversary.
She was raised in Kennedy, Minn. and attended school there, graduating as the class salutatorian from KHS in 1948. Following high school, she attended and graduated from Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks, N.D. Muriel worked at several secretarial jobs in the area.
She married Wallace Vagle Feb. 10, 1951 at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy. They settled in Thief River Falls in 1955 where they raised their family. Together, Muriel and Wally enjoyed fishing, camping, watching basketball games, and enjoying time with her family and friends.
Muriel attended First Lutheran Church, later called Redeemer Lutheran. She worked for 10 years as parish secretary there.
Muriel enjoyed all kinds of handiwork, especially crocheting and quilting with the ladies group at Redeemer. She attended church circles, and was a member of the altar guild.
She will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Muriel is survived by husband, Wally, Thief River Falls, Minn.; children, Ellen (Alan) Anton, Stephen Minn., David (Irene) Vagle, Alexandria, Minn., and Nancy (Hal) Harbott, Thief River Falls, Minn.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, Ellie Klamar to be born in February; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Julius and Edna Enquist.
Funeral Services were held Jan. 28, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, Minn.
Rev. Mark Helgeland and Rev. Ben Carlsen officiated.
