Kennedy, Minn. - Glen Gunnarson, 88, a lifelong Kennedy, Minn. farmer died at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, Minn. Jan. 30, 2013.
Glen LeRoy Gunnarson was born to Robert and Ellen (Bjornberg) Gunnarson Dec. 1, 1924 in Jupiter Township of Kittson County, Minn. He grew up near Kennedy, attending Garfield Country School and graduating from Kennedy High School in 1942.
Oct. 27, 1946 he was united in marriage to Corinne “Corny” Nelson at Red River Lutheran Church. In 1948 they settled on a farm east of Kennedy and lived there until 1963 when they moved to the family home farm. Glen and Corrine wintered in Arizona for over 20 years.
He was a member of Maria Lutheran Church and was a former chairman of the church board. He was also a charter member and and former president of the Kennedy Lions Club and served on the Kennedy Farmers Elevator Board. Glen was an avid golfer and played often at the local courses and in Arizona.
Corinne died Aug. 26, 2011.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Anderson, Culver City, Calif., Michael (Cindy) Gunnarson, Hallock and Pamela (Chris) Swenson, Kennedy; seven grandchildren, Robert (Emily) Gunnarson, Marc (Tera) Gunnarson, Kirsten (Graeme) Stewart, Brooke (Steve) Zabel, Brady (Ashley) Swenson, Sean Swenson and Ricky (Tara) Anderson; nine great grandchildren Gus, Kaia and Elin Gunnarson, Evan and Olivia Zabel, Gavin, Elle and Brock Gunnarson and Greta Lynch Anderson; a sister, Judy Krabbenhoft, Blackduck, Minn. and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd and Virgil; and sisters, Bernice Vik and Marjorie Vik.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 3, 1 p.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy. Interment will be in the Kennedy City Cemetery.
Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presiding; Shannon Christenson, organist; Dwight Nelson, soloist; Charles and Patti Swanson, special music.
Honorary pallbearers will be great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 2, 6-8 p.m. in the Austin Funeral Chapel at Hallock with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service.
