LANCASTER SCHOOL BOARD PROCEEDINGS
The Lancaster School Board met in regular session on Wednesday, September 11,  2013, at 8:00 p.m. in the school district office. The following members were present: Diamond, Hanson, Jerome, Nelson, Nordin, and Weleski.  Also present were Supt. Swiontek, Activities Director Evan Hanson, and Mendy Coffield.

Chairperson Hanson called the meeting to order. The agenda was approved with one addition on a motion by Weleski, second by Diamond. UC.
On a motion by Weleski, second by Nordin, the minutes of the regular August 13, 2013, school board were approved as presented. UC.

On a motion by Jerome, second by Weleski, Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) were approved in the amount of $24,580.21, July and August Payroll EFTS $51,430.43, and the bills were approved for payment as presented in the amount of $75,929.11. Check numbers 36522-36574. UC.

The Budget and Treasurer’s reports were reviewed.  Investing discussion was held.
Supt. Swiontek presented the Administrative Report:
1. Enrollment history was reviewed.  2013/14 enrollment: 153, preschool 24.
2. Supt. Swiontek gave a presentation on State assessments and ACT results.  Math GRAD requirements will be discussed at a later date.
3. The MREA Conference is November 17th – 19th at Craguns.
On a motion by Weleski, second by Nelson, and carried: Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of Independent School District 356, certifies the maximum taxes payable for 2014.

On a motion by Nordin, second by Weleski, and carried Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of Independent School District 356, approves the Entertainment Services contract from Jason Rominski for the September 27th homecoming dance.

On a motion by Jerome, second by Diamond, and carried Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of Independent School District 356, hires Grant Dierkhising as the KCC JV Football Coach effective for the 2013/14 sports season.

On a motion by Weleski, second by Nordin, and carried: Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of Independent School District 356, approves the 2013/14 extra-curricular assignments as presented by AD Evan Hanson.

On a motion by Nelson, second by Jerome, and carried: Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of Independent School District 356 appoints the following to the Lancaster School Safety Committee:  Supt. Steve Swiontek, Mendy Coffield, Jerry Peterson, head custodian; Krystal Peterson, FACS; Michael Peterson, Industrial Technology; Laura Reese, Science; Tina Wilwant, Head Cook; and Brian Weleski, board member.

On a motion by Weleski, second by Diamond, and carried: Be It Resolved, that the Board of
Education of Independent School District 356, has reviewed and approved the following health and safety programs. Northwest Service Cooperative is hired to oversee, implement, and train employees in all of the school district health and safety programs.  A complete copy is on file in the district office.

On a motion by Nordin, second by Diamond, and carried: Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of Independent School District 356 approves the 2012/13 Staff Development report as presented by Supt. Swiontek.

On a motion by Weleski, second by Jerome, and carried: Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of Independent School District 356 approves the 2012/13 Annual Report on Curriculum, Instruction and Student Achievement as presented by Supt. Swiontek.

On a motion by Nordin, second by Weleski, and carried: Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of Independent School District 356 agrees that Lancaster School is in compliance with the local Wellness Policy 533.

On a motion by Diamond, second by Jerome, and carried: Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of Independent School District 356 accepts the Target donation of $491.87.  

Discussion was held on the transmission line meeting held earlier in the day.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:32 pm on a motion by Weleski, second by Diamond. UC.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at 8:00 pm.
