BRIAN FINNEY
11/27/2013

Albuquerque, N.M. - Brian “Buddy” Wayne Finney, 55, Albuquerque, N.M., died at his home Nov. 7, 2013 with his loving family at his side. He had been waging an optimistic and valiant battle with lung cancer for the past year.
“Buddy” was born March 7, 1958 in Hallock Minn. to Lorraine and Harold Finney of rural St. Vincent, Minn. He graduated from the Humboldt-St. Vincent high school in 1976 and attended North Dakota State University in Fargo after which he returned to the Humboldt area and began to farm with his dad.
In 1984 he moved to Rogers, Ark. where he was employed with the Steve Chastain Company. In the spring of 2001, Buddy relocated to Albuquerque, N.M.  He was employed in the marketing department of AECOM, an engineering firm for a number of years and most recently with Bohannon Huston, Inc. as a proposal manager in the marketing division of the civil engineering firm for nearly two years until his diagnosis in November 2012.
Buddy and his wife, Justine Judway, were married Aug. 7, 2009.
He was a very creative and witty individual who had an innate ability to entertain and amuse people. He was a very easy going, gentle and kind hearted man who loved nature, to paint pictures, work in his yard, tend to all his furry children (dogs, cats, hamsters) and ‘fix’ things. He seemed to always be working on a project, learning to play a new instrument, working on word puzzles, reading and baking his ‘sweets’.
Buddy will always be missed by his many friends and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Justine; his step-daughter, Abigail Judway; sisters, Susan (Leland) Sele, Crookston, Minn. and Kathleen (Myron) Nielsen, El Cajon, Calif.; brother-in-law, Ted Kochevar, Duluth, Minn.; nieces Paula Kochevar Obrigewitch, San Diego, Calif., Michelle Sele Walker, Bismarck, N.D., Prentice Sele, Fargo, N.D. and his nephew Jim Sele, Rochester, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Eileen Kochevar and his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Buddy’s honor at his home in Albuquerque in March 2014.
In lieu of flowers make a donation in his memory to one of his favorites - The Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico, 112 14th St. S.W., Albuquerque, New Mexico  87102, ccfnmc@ccfnm.org or to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate.
