Heather Hoeppner captured this photo of several hundred monarch butterflies in a tree row near the Pemberton farm north of Hallock, Minn., Aug. 14. Apparently, the butterflies gather to migrate down south on a windy day in August each year. Typically, they choose the same spot each time, but not always the same date. Hoeppner is the daughter of Clare Hunt and the twin sister of Hugh Hunt, both Hallock. She lives in Tennessee with her family and was up visiting during August with the rest of the Hunt children and grandchildren. She said it was quite a sight and hopes that the butterflies choose the same spot next summer.
