Hallock, Minn. - David Ryden Sr., 93, Hallock, Minne., died Sept. 19, 2012 at Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D.  
David Melburn Ryden was born Nov. 24, 1918 in Hallock to Oscar and Christina (Ekensteen) Ryden.  He was one of nine children.  
David was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a corporal.   
Dec. 14, 1941 he married Virginia Fisher in Phoenix, Ariz. They were married 65 years when she passed away. They started their married life in Phoenix and in the spring of 1951 they began their trek between Phoenix and Hallock twice each year for the next 44 years.  
All of his life he has been an inventive man. If there was a mechanical problem he worked on the solution.   He farmed well past the normal retirement age, with 29 of those years working with his son. He loved working with metal and for many years made beautiful wrought iron glass top tables sets and other customized wrought iron items of his own design, knowledge he shared with his son-in-law.   
In 1983 David began the machine shop in Hallock, Ryden Development, Inc. with his son, Dave and son-in-law, Dennis. Dennis later left to work at the Pembina port. The machine shop was kept going until the last couple of years by both David and Dave. Both he and his wife loved spending time at their cabin on Lake Bronson, fishing and entertaining.  
Davis and Virginia had two children. First born was a daughter, Paula in August of 1944. Their son David was born Feburary of 1947.  Both children were born in Phoenix and both are living in Hallock.  
Family members include a daughter Paula (Dennis) Kinkead, Hallock; a son, David Jr. (Maureen), Hallock; six grandchildren; Michael, Susan, Autumn, Robin, Jeffrey and Jared; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Mae Glad, Lancaster, Minn.; a brother, James, Payson, Ariz. and nieces and nephews.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers and two sisters.  
Funeral services were held Sept. 24, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock.
Interment was held in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Rev. Frank Johnson, presided. Renee Wahl, organist.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Ryden, Jared Ryden, Dennis Kinkead, Ryan Waage, Gary Rice and Steve Rice.   
Austin Funeral Home, Hallock, was in charge of arrangements.
