Independence, Iowa - Kenneth W. Lang, 93, died peacefully surrounded by his family at the West Village Care Center, in Independence, Iowa, Sept. 2, 2012.
Born June 14, 1919, in Cavalier, N.D., Kenneth was the son of Stanley and Margaret (Turner) Lang. Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He farmed for over 20 years in Minnesota and for 19 years was a drill press operator for Nissen Company in Cedar Rapids.
Kenneth’s joys were gardening, photography and playing the harmonica.
Survivors include his children, David (Alana) Lang, Apple Valley, Calif., Bert (Betty) Lang, Rowley, Iowa, Constance (Mike) Fowler, Greenville, S.C. and Karen (Tim) Lindstrom, Columbia Heights, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and Maxine’s children, Richard, Marilyn, Carol and their families.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lois who died in 1980; his second wife, Maxine who died in 2003; and his brother, Shirley.
Funeral services were Sept. 11, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa, by the Rev. Bob Solon.
Burial was at Center Point Cemetery, with military honors by the Shellsburg American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Kenneth’s memory.
