Mankato, Minn. - Joan Isabel Peterson, 70, Mankato, Minn., died Aug. 19, 2012, at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Joan was born Oct. 11, 1941, to Russell and Genevieve (Reisgard) Gillie in Hallock, Minn. She attended school in Hallock. Joan married Pete Puskedra in 1959 in Hallock. In 1972, she married Gene Frassel in Iowa. She married Larry Peterson in 1984 in Mankato.
Joan worked as a bartender and was also employed at the Redwood Motel in Mankato. She served as President of the women’s auxiliary at the Eagle’s Club. She enjoyed a life of pets, especially dogs, and also reading, bingo, and puzzles.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Tim) Gens, Mankato, Deb (John) Engels, Rhode Island, and Carole Puskedra and special friend, Tina, Pasadena, Calif. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Amie, Nathan, Michael, Joshua, and Kaitlin; four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Ethan, Owen, and Wyatt; and sister, Kathy Cannon, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, two husbands and grandson, Christopher.
Interment was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements were handled by Mankato Mortuary.
