Dan Lindom

Daniel Roger Lindom, 57, Clearbrook, Minn., died Friday, August 15, 2014 from injuries sustained in a car accident on County Road 7.
Dan was born on February 20, 1957 in Libertyville, Ill., to Roger Lindom and Marilyn (Erickson) Lindom (Bonnet).  The family moved to Clearbrook when he was in fifth grade.  He was confirmed at Good Shepherd Church.  He participated in music and sports in high school and graduated in 1975.
After high school, he attended Moorhead Technical College for a short time and then went to work for RoSo Honey operated by the Stoker family.  Dan married Linda C. Diamond on October 27, 1979.
Dan worked a variety of jobs during his lifetime.  Businesses he owned and operated in Clearbrook were: Danny’s Café, DaRoo’s Pizza (established in 1983), Lindom Insurance Agency, the Clearbrook Motel and Drive-In, and B&D Mobility-Medi Van Service and the Piper’s Inn (established in 1998).  Other jobs were sales related: BMA Insurance, Lawson Products and Dondelinger Chevrolet.  He worked as a carpenter for David Smith and for G&G Construction.  Each job groomed him for the next and were chosen because of the people he worked with.
Dan liked being involved in his community.  Activities included: Summerfest Golf Tournament, All School Reunion Parade Announcer (since 1980), Community Club and Church Council.  He had been on the Volunteer Fire Department and a Co-Manager of the American Legion Club.
Dan loved music and could recall decades of song hits and recording artists.  He sang solos at weddings and funerals and enjoyed karaoke.  Dan and friend Mike Gibeau, had a DJ business for wedding dances called MD Music Machine.
Dan was an avid sports fan.  He read the sports pages every day.  Because of his childhood in Illinois, he was a die-hard Cubs fan but loyal to the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, and Gophers.  He played football and basketball in high school and it was his coach that gave him the nickname “Dan DaRoo”.  Softball and bowling were replaced with golf; he golfed whenever possible.
He was a Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears fan and supporter. Dan started announcing high school football games in 1980 and later did boys and girls basketball games.  He started his coaching career with 10th grade boys and went on to be the head coach for girls and boys basketball.
His latest projects were at his home: a new garage, an addition, and working on his yard.  He wanted it to look like a golf course.
Family was very important.  He enjoyed gatherings with all the relatives; the Lindoms, Ericksons, Diamonds, and Pearsons.
Dan is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Molly and son Jackson.
Surviving siblings are brothers: Gary (Marjorie), Orlando Fla., Eric (Shirley), Albuquerque, N.M. and sister: Patty (LeRoy) Ostby of St. Hilaire, Minn.
Other survivors include: brother-in-law: Dennis (Permilla) Diamond, Humboldt, sisters-in-law:  Nancy Muir, Portland, Ore., Marlys Lofberg, Moorhead, Minn., Delores (George) Bean, Surprise, Ariz. and Lois (Tim) Berg, Hallock, Minn., numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.
