  Sarah J. Nissen, 35, Grand Forks, N.D., died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, in Rochester Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn. Her cancer journey can be found at https:// www.caringbridge .org/visit/sarahnissen.
Sarah Jean Olsonawski, the daughter of David and Sheryl (Kreps) Olsonawski, was born March 11, 1982, in Crookston, Minn. She attended elementary school in Hallock, Minn., and attended middle and high school in Park Rapids, Minn., graduating in 2000. She continued her education at Minnesota State University, Moorhead, for her bachelor’s degree and earned a master’s degree in communication from North Dakota State University. Sarah spent most of her career in higher education marketing with her most recent role as the Executive Director of Marketing & Creative Services for the University of North Dakota.
Sarah married Mark Nissen Sept. 3, 2005, in Park Rapids. They lived in Moorhead, Minn., until moving to Grand Forks in 2014. Together they have three children, Cade, Anna and Adelyn.
Sarah is survived by her husband and their children, all of Grand Forks; parents, David and Sheryl Olsonawski, Park Rapids; grandmothers, Margene Kreps, Moorhead, and Sophie Olsonawski, Hallock; two sisters, Jana (Ryan) Jordan, Buffalo, Minn., and Lisa (Joel) Trosdahl, Pequot Lakes, Minn.; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by grandfathers, Wayne Kreps and Anton Olsonawski.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service Monday, Jan. 1, also at Calvary Lutheran Church.
