The Bearcat finished off their regular season on a positive note. KCC hosted the Warroad Warriors last Thursday, Feb. 22 in their final regular season game of the season. They handled the overmatched Warriors in convincing fashion and captured the win to lock up the #5 seed heading into the West Sub-Section Tournament.
It took the Bearcats the first few possessions of the game to settle in and get the ball rolling.      Once KCC hit its first shot and were able to apply full court pressure, the baskets started to come in bunches. The Bearcats quickly started to separate the two teams on the scoreboard steadily building their lead through the entire first half of play. The Bearcats held a 39-14 lead at the intermission.
The second half of play flew by even faster than the first. The Bearcats dropped their pressure defenses and challenged the Warriors to find ways inside one of their zone defenses. It proved to be effective. KCC held Warroad to 11 second half points, while continuing to create quality offensive opportunities on the other end. The Bearcats coasted to the 66-25 win and finished the regular season with a 16-10 record. KCC will face the Red Lake Falls Eagles in the first round of the west sub-section playoffs Thursday, March 1, in Crookston at 7:45 p.m.
