4-H After School Adventures holds Cupcake Wars

4-H After School Adventures started back up in the month of March after taking a two month break. Students in Lancaster, Tri-County and Kittson Central gathered after school to learn about healthy eating, make a healthy after school snack and then decorate cupcakes for 4-H Cupcake Wars.
Students learned lifelong skills like reading nutrition labels and how to choose healthier options. They got practice making a healthy snack instead of reaching for junk food. Then, they had fun decorating their own cupcake to compete for the most votes on the Kittson County Facebook page.
4-H After School Adventures meet again in April and May in the area schools. Contact the Kittson County Extension Office 218-843-3674 for more information.

Left: Vote for your favorite cupcake!  Since a treat is fine once in a while, 4-h members got to decorate and present their cupcake design in cupcake wars. To see all the cupcakes go to facebook.com/kittsoncounty4h/
Right: LaRochel Steyn  and Lorelai Streetman learned how to make this healthy apple cinnamon wrap during 4-H After School Adventures at Kittson Central.

Maris Whitlock and Bradley Cummins pipe frosting and decorate cupcakes during After School Adventures in Lancaster.

What a great idea! As a former Count 4-H leader and youth director, I had many rewarding experiences, but this a new one! Sounds great! Keep up the good work, the youth of today, needs 4-H more than ever. (I still judge 4-H activities at our county fair..I’m 87 years old..never to old to learn new things).
