MFU pleased at passage of Senate Farm Bill

The U.S. Senate voted 86-11 to pass the bipartisan Farm Bill, or the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, June 28.
Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) supports the Senate’s bill. MFU President Gary Wertish said the following in response to its passage:
“With the hard economic times in agriculture right now, we were pleased that the Senate worked together in developing this bill. It includes provisions for good crop insurance, dairy, conservation programs, rural development, local foods, renewable energy and nutrition.
“We thank the Senate for addressing the needs of family farmers in this way, and we’d especially like to thank Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith of Minnesota for their work on the bill and voting in favor of it. We look forward to working with senators and representatives to produce a strong Farm Bill in conference committee.”
