KCC downs rivals MayPort, Breck/Wahp, Park Rapids

The Bearcats Varsity Hockey Team defeated the MayPort area Ice Dawgs, Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades and the Park Rapids Panthers this past week.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Kittson County Central faced off at home against MayPort. The Bearcats opened the scoring in the first period at 6:04 with a goal by Luke Misson, assisted by Calvin Hanson and Hayden Hennen. In the second period, Tyler Hennen scored at 3:36, assisted by Adam Gustafson and Landon Sugden. The period ended with the Bearcats leading 2-0.
In the third period at 7:44, MayPort cut the lead to 2-1 on a short-handed goal by Sawyer Satrom, unassisted. At 8:44 Sugden added a goal for the Bearcats, assisted by Tyler Bakken and T.Hennen. Sugden scored his second goal of the game at 16:41, assisted by T. Hennen to make the final score 4-1.
The KCC Junior Varsity team was defeated 5-2 by MayPort Area. Scoring for the Bearcats was Sugden with two goals. Isaac Lindegard had 25 saves in goal.

On Thursday, Feb. 6, KCC traveled to defeat Breckenridge/Wahpeton in Wahpeton. The final score was 5-2. The Blades opened the scoring in the first period at :46 on a goal by Carson Hought, assisted by Brayden Wahl and James Finkral. KCC answered back at 16:34 with a goal by Calvin Hanson, assisted by Tyler Hennen. The first period ended in a 1-1 tie.
In the second period at 3:01, the Bearcats grabbed the lead 2-1 with Hanson scoring, assisted by Hayden Hennen. KCC scored again at 9:43 with a goal by Tyler Bakken, assisted by H. Hennen.
In the third period at 7:48, Adam Gustafson added a Bearcat goal, assisted by Landon Sugden, and T. Hennen to increase the KCC lead to 4-1. At 7:53, Jase Jensen scored for the Blades, assisted by Thomas Withuski to cut the lead to 4-2. Hanson scored for the Bearcats on the power play at 12:11 assisted by H. Hennen and T. Hennen to make the final score 5-2 in favor of Kittson County Central.
The Bearcats Junior Varsity team won 8-2 over the Blades. Isaac Lindegard had 8 saves in goal.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, KCC played the Park Rapids Panthers in Walker. The final score was 12-0. The Bearcats opened the scoring in the first period at 1:04 with a goal by Calvin Hanson, unassisted. KCC added a goal by Landon Sugden, assisted by Adam Gustafson and Matthew Stewart at 5:54. C. Hanson scored again at 6:14, assisted by Stewart and Luke Misson. Gustafson scored on the power play at 9:07, assisted by Tyler Bakken and Ethan Hanson to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Bearcats.
In the second period at 5:17 C. Hanson scored his third goal of the game, assisted by Hayden Hennen. C. Hanson added a fourth goal at 6:28, again assisted by H. Hennen. Tyler Hennen scored at 12:20, assisted by Gustafson. T. Hennen added a second goal at 12:30, assisted by E. Hanson, and Hayden Olsonawski. Misson scored the final goal of the second period at 13:30, assisted by Bakken and C. Hanson.
In the third period, T. Hennen added his third goal of the game at :58, assisted by H. Hennen. At 5:35, Misson scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Bakken and T. Hennen. T. Hennen scored his fourth goal of the game for the Bearcats at 15:02 short-handed, assisted by Misson and Sugden to make the final score 12-0. Hayden Hennen scored at 13:22, assisted by Adam Gustafson and Tyler Hennen to make the score 4-3.
The Bearcats Junior Varsity team also defeated Park Rapids with a final score of 7-4. Netting goals for the Bearcat’s JV were Luke Misson, unassisted, Eli Lunsetter assisted by Joe Albrecht, Izyk Strege assisted by Ethan Hanson, Landon Sugden assisted by Tyler Hennen, Carter Larson assisted by Sugden, Sugden assisted by Strege, and Larson assisted by Sugden.
