Bearcats trounce Bagley/Fosston, will play Lakers in Section 8A quarterfinal game in Hallock on Thursday

The Bearcats varsity hockey team ended their regular season last Tuesday, Feb. 11, with a decisive home win over Bagley/Fosston.
As the No. 4 seed in the Section 8A playoffs, Kittson County Central will face No. 5 seed Detroit Lakes in Hallock on Thursday, Feb. 20. The Lakers are coming off a 1-0 road win over Class A 10th ranked Little Falls.
On Tuesday, Feb. 11, KCC played the Bagley/Fosston Flyers for the second time this season. The Bearcats opened the scoring in the first period at :36 with a goal by Tyler Bakken, assisted by Hayden Hennen and Calvin Hanson. Bakken added a second goal at 5:43, assisted by Hanson and Luke Misson.
Adam Gustafson scored at 6:49, assisted by H. Hennen and goalie Wyatt Olsonawski. Hanson added the final goal of the period at 14:10, assisted by H. Hennen to give the Bearcats a 4-0 lead.
In the second period, the Bearcats added a goal at :17 by H. Hennen, assisted by Matthew Stewart. At 10:13 Bakken netted his third goal of the game, assisted by Hanson and Misson. At 12:51 Gustafson scored on the power play, assisted by H. Hennen, giving the Bearcats a 7-0 lead. Hanson scored again at 14:01 for Kittson County Central, assisted by Stewart and Gustafson. Tyler Hennen scored the final goal of the period at 14:36 assisted by Gustafson and Landon Sugden.
In the third period, KCC added a 10th goal at 1:04 with Ethan Hanson scoring, assisted by Gustafson. At 2:15 Sugden scored, assisted by T. Hennen and H. Hennen. Bagley/Fosston’s Tanner Levin scored in the final seconds of the third period at 16:58, assisted by Alex Rolsfson and Trey Netland to spoil the shutout for Bearcat goalie Wyatt Olsonawski.
