Public Notice:
As part of the federal requirement pursuant to Rail Safety Improvement Act (RSIA) of 2008 and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), CP wishes to inform the general public of our intentions to install six (6) 60-foot Positive Train Control towers within the CP NOYES Subdivision in Kittson County, Minnesota. The towers will be installed in disturbed land along the railroad right-of-way in the following locations. Tower #34140 will be located in Karlstad, approximately 0.25 mile south of the Stassen Avenue W (CR 6) railroad crossing. Tower #35480 will be located in Lake Bronson, approximately 140-feet north of the Hill Street railroad crossing. Tower #35520 will be located in Lake Bronson, approximately 700-feet north of the Main Street railroad crossing. Tower #35525 will be located in Lake Bronson, approximately 270-feet south of the intersection of Railway Avenue and State Street. Tower #35610 will be located north of Lake Bronson south of the 250th Street railroad crossing. Tower #36555 will be located in Lancaster, approximately 190-feet west of the US 59 (CR 4) railroad crossing. The towers will include antennae for Positive Train Control (PTC) applications along with other railroad communication requirements. If members of the public would like to submit comments regarding the potential for the poles to cause adverse effects to historic properties they may do so by contacting CP’s Community Connect Line (Tel: 1-800-766-7912; community_connect @cpr.ca). Comments must be received within 30 days of the publication of this Notice.
