September 23, 2020
The Board of Education of #2171 met in regular session September 23rd at 8:00 p.m. in the Kittson Central High School Auditorium. Members present were Mike Sugden, Mike Olsonawski, Eric Ristad, Crisa Mortenson, Amanda Pinnock, Matt Kuznia and Mark Johnson. Also present were Superintendent Jaszczak, Jami Carr, Anna Jauhola, Kalli Peterson, Diane Younggren, Mark Christenson and Stephanie Hanson.
The agenda was approved by Johnson, seconded by Olsonawski. Motion carried. Minutes from August 26th were presented. Motion to accept minutes by Ristad, second by Pinnock. Motion carried. The bills having been audited and found correct were ordered to be paid. Post payment bills (hand payables) were approved for $31,310.86. Prepayment bills of $68,923.32. Activity Fund balance of $104,702.43. Payroll Electronic Fund Transfers in the amount of $169,562.38, Payroll Checks in the amount of $39,766.78.

on a motion to approve by Mortenson seconded by Olsonawski. Motion carried.
A recommendation to certify the proposed levy at the maximum was presented. Projected number of students is down. Certifying the maximum allows for any changes made in the system will reflect in the final levy. Motion Mortenson, second Ristad. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the resignations of Brian Pastir and Frank Johnson as baseball coaches. Brian is retiring after 32 years and Frank is leaving the area. Motion to approve Pinnock, second Olsonawski. Motion carried.
A recommendation to increase the student support teacher contract by one hour was presented. Due to an increased number of students with Dyslexia and language barriers, there is a need for more assistance. Motion to approve Pinnock, second Johnson. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the first reading of the updated Policy 522 was presented. The policy reflects changes in federal law regarding sex nondiscrimination. Motion to approve Mortenson, second Kuznia. Motion carried.
Superintendent Jaszczak talked about Fall enrollment being down primarily to Covid-related concerns. Other districts are showing a 4-6% decrease as well. Budget will get more difficult going forward due to funding issues. Overall, school has started off well and the students have adapted. Weather has also been an asset for outdoor recess and PE classes.
Next meeting is October 28th, 2020 at 8pm.
