Kittson County Salvation Army has record year, despite pandemic
The Kittson County Unit of the Salvation Army is proud to announce that even with COVID-19, it had another very successful Christmas campaign.
The local unit received contributions of $19,341.65, one of its best years. The gifts from area residents were well in excess of the local unit’s annual budget. Once again, the residents of Kittson County were incredibly generous, even in the midst of the present pandemic.
Local board members started the annual Christmas drive concerned about the inability to do much bell-ringing. However, direct donations more than made up for the drop in kettle donations.
As in previous years, the leading donation site for Christmas kettles was Karlstad Korner, which received contributions of $1,956.59. The second place kettle was the Farmers Store of Hallock, and third place was the Cenex in Hallock.
Once again, the Kittson County Unit of The Salvation Army would like to thank everyone for the wonderfully generous support that was shown for the local unit.
It would like to recognize the following businesses for their partnership in the Christmas campaign: Karlstad Corner, J&S Grocery, Bernstrom Oil, Lancaster Senior Center, Hardware Store, Farmers Store, Rev Ale, Lake Bronson Market, Cenex-Hallock, Gullander Hardware, Red Barn Liquor, Eagles Club, Karlstad Hardware, Shamrock Lanes, Nordisk Hemslojd, Farmers Union Oil Co., Last Chance Trading Post, Karlstad Supermarket Foods, Frog Pond and the Kennedy Café.
