Ever wonder where you’re at on a trail in a state park?
Now you can know in real time.
Over the last few years, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Parks and Trails Division has partnered with the company Avenza to create offline maps that use your phone’s GPS. Amy Ellison, Parks and Trails cartographer, created the maps.
“The Avenza app is a third-party app. It’s been used by our agency since 2013 with the off-highway vehicle trails,” Ellison said. “Every map Parks and Trails creates … is a geo-referenced map. The little blue dot shows where you are and will follow you wherever you go.”
