Hallock Dam engineers working to fix issues

As construction on the Hallock dam approaches completion, issues have arisen.
The emergency spillway needs to be adjusted to allow for proper overflow in the event of a flood. Jeff Langan, engineer with Houston Engineering, updated the Hallock City Council during its regular meeting on Monday, May 3.
The city received a $2 million grant from the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council in 2018 and began making solid plans to restore the fish habitat on the Two Rivers in Hallock in 2019. The project has modified the existing dam to create a structure consisting of riprap, large boulders and rock arch rapids.
