KCC Bearcat track team advances nine to section meet

KCC Track Meet varsity results from Thursday, June 3 at Thief River Falls.

Nine girls advanced to the section meet, which was held Tuesday, June 8 in Park Rapids after they placed in the top 4 at the sub-section meet. Senior Liz Webster placed second in the 100 meter. Eighth-grader Morgan Turn placed fourth in the 400 meter. Seventh-grader Greta Kuznia placed fourth in the 800 meter.
The 4×100 relay team, made up of Rachel Schmiedeberg (junior), Miranda Peterson (eighth), Berlyn Strege (eighth), and Liz Webster (senior) with alternates Hanna Warnke (seventh) and Afton Lindgren (seventh) placed second.
Junior Cheyanne Scalese placed third in the shot put. Junior Rachel Schmiede-berg placed fourth in the high jump.

KCC Bearcat Senior runner Liz Webster placed second in the 100 meter with a time of 12.81. Placing first was Sophie Helgeson, Roseau, with a time of 12.73. Bearcats Berlyn Strege placed 18th with a time of 14.23 and Miranda Peterson 21st with a time of 14.51.

KCC’s Morgan Turn, eighth grader, placed fourth in the 400 meter with a time of 1:05.21. She was also part of the fourth place finishing 4×400 meter relay team.

Cheyanne Scalese, KCC Junior track member, placed third in the shot put with a throw of 31’ and also ran in the 400 meter dash, placing 17th with a time of 1:11.61.
