The Board of Education of #2171 met in regular session at 8:00 p.m. in the Kittson Central boardroom. Members present were Eric Ristad, Crisa Mortenson, Mike Olsonawski, Amanda Pinnock, Matt Kuznia and Mark Johnson. Also present were Superintendent Jaszczak, Kari Jo Jensen, Kalli Peterson, Jami Carr, Anna Jauhola and Stephanie Hanson.
The meeting was called to order by Superintendent Jaszczak. Election of officers was held. A nomination for chair of Eric Ristad by Kuznia, second Mortenson. Vice chair of Matt Kuznia, clerk of Mark Johnson, and treasurer of Crisa Mortenson from Johnson, second by Olsonawski. Motion carried. The agenda was approved by Mortenson second by Plaine. Motion carried. Minutes from December 15th, 2021 were presented. Motion to accept minutes by Olsonawski, second by Johnson. Motion carried. The bills having been audited and found correct were ordered to be paid. Post payment bills (hand payables) were approved for $31,193.53. Prepayment bills of $102,018.90. Activity Fund Balance of $95,230.59. Payroll Electronic Fund Transfers in the amount of $265,291.05, Payroll Checks in the amount of $47,686.48. Donation of $1801.53

on a motion to approve by Olsonawski, second by Mortenson. Motion carried.
Mrs. Carr talked about there a few weeks left of winter sports. Still trying to add a game or two from storm days. There has been lots of Covid testing done and more tests have been ordered.
Board meetings are the 4th Wednesday of the month at 8:00 pm. Motion to remain the same Johnson, second by Kuznia. Motion carried.
Board salaries are $50 per meeting. Motion to remain the same Johnson, second by Plaine. Motion carried.
The Kittson County Enterprise is the Official Newspaper. Motion to keep Mortenson, second Kuznia. Motion carried.
Designated depositories are UVB, AFB, KodaBank, PMA Financial and MNLAF. Motion to remain the same by Mortenson, second Pinnock. Motion carried.
Board committees were presented. Motion to leave committees the same by Mortenson, second Kuznia. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the Seniority lists as presented. A motion to approve the Certified list by Johnson, seconded by Mortenson. Motion carried. A motion to approve the Non-certified list by Olsonawski, seconded by Plaine. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the resignation of paraprofessional Sam Nordine. She has taken a job elsewhere. Motion to approve Mortenson, seconded by Olsonawski. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the call for bids for a small vehicle was presented. Motion to approve Johnson, second by Olsonawski. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the resignation of Elementary teacher, Janel Dahl. She is retiring. Motion to approve Plaine, second Pinnock. Motion carried.
A recommendation to hire Becky Johnson for the secondary math position. Motion to approve Johnson, second Kuznia. Motion carried.
Superintendent Jaszczak talked about MDE giving N95 masks for all teachers. Those should be here shortly for distribution. He discussed the likelihood of needing to replace the John Deere tractor used primarily for snow removal. He informed the board about the high cost of charter bus transportation for the senior class trip. With the small number of students going on the trip, flying may be a better option.
A recommendation was made for the board to allow plans to be made with airline costs. Motion to approve Mortenson, second Plaine. Motion carried.
He also discussed the number of storm days missed and days out for football. There may be a need to add back some days. He will be looking further into that.
