Sharon Peterson, 72

Sharon Peterson, 72, a lifelong Hallock, Minn., resident passed away at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, N.D., on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022.
Sharon Anne McGovern was born in Hallock on May 28, 1949, the daughter of Willis and Anne (Krawchuk) McGovern. She grew up on the family farm near Hallock and attended local schools. On Nov. 27, 1965, she was united in marriage to John Peterson. The couple lived for two years in Willmar, Minn., while John was attending college before moving back to farm in North Red River Township of Kittson County.
Sharon and John moved Granville Township after the flood of 1997. The couple spent several weeks each year at their place on Lake Winnie where they enjoyed fishing in the summer and winter. Sharon was accomplished at cross-stitch and made many beautiful hand-stitched cards for family and friends.
She also enjoyed working her flower garden and bird watching.
Family members include: her husband, John; a daughter, Renee (Dan) Lemke, Kilkenny, Minn.; a son, Traves (Kelly) Peterson, Andover, Minn.; three grandchildren, Brady, Hunter and Tanner; a great-grandchild, Brennen; sisters, Marlyce Satterlund, Lincoln, Neb., and Susan Cedergren, Le Center, Minn.; a brother, Billy (Colleen) McGovern, Hallock; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Willis and Anne; a brother, Richard; and a nephew, Jesse.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service.
