The Board of Education of #2171 met in regular session at 8:00 p.m. in the Kittson Central boardroom. Members present were Eric Ristad, Crisa Mortenson, Matt Kuznia and Mark Johnson. Also present were Superintendent Jaszczak, Diane Younggren, Lindsey Gullickson, Jami Carr, Anna Jauhola and Stephanie Hanson.
The meeting was called to order by Ristad. The agenda was approved by Johnson second by Plaine. Motion carried. Minutes from January 26th, 2022 were presented. Motion to accept minutes by Mortenson, second by Kuznia. Motion carried. The bills having been audited and found correct were ordered to be paid. Post payment bills (hand payables) were approved for $11,249.16. Prepayment bills of $34,193.91. Activity Fund Balance of $95,180.82. Payroll Electronic Fund Transfers in the amount of $221,629.16, Payroll Checks in the amount of $46,368.17.

on a motion to approve by Mortenson, second by Plaine. Motion carried.
Mrs. Carr talked about playoffs starting with hockey tomorrow in Detroit Lakes and both basketball teams starting theirs the following week.
Discussion was had about the 2022-2023 calendar. It has been distributed to the teachers and will be brought back to the board in March for approval.
A recommendation to approve that the Clearinghouse date of March 4th be added as a student contact day as an early out. This would help add back a student day due to lost ones for storm days. Motion to approve Plaine, second Mortenson. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve an electronic learning plan was presented to use in the event we have additional storm days. This would only apply to this school year. Motion to approve Kuznia, second Johnson. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve allowing students to participate in a trap league was presented. Motion to approve Mortenson, second Kuznia. Motion carried.
A recommendation to accept the resignations of Blair Younggren and Alex Strege from Boys Co Golf coaches. Motion to accept Plaine, second Kuznia. Motion carried.
A recommendation to hire Mrs. Sarah Youngstrand as the High School Science Teacher for next fall. Motion to approve Plaine, second Mortenson. Motion carried.
A recommendation to hire Mrs. Melissa Casper as an elementary teacher beginning next fall. Motion to approve Johnson, second Plaine. Motion carried.
A recommendation to hire Nicole Anderson as a paraprofessional in the preschool room beginning in March. Motion to approve Kuznia, second Mortenson. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the resolution – recommendation for Staff and Program Reductions as presented. This is an annual resolution that is required in the event any reductions are made. Motion to approve Johnson, second Mortenson. Motion carried.
Superintendent Jasczcak talked about graduation and what it would look like with larger class sizes. Some adjustments regarding the band are going to be explored. He also talked about the large amount of snow days we have had and that this has only occurred one other time in 27 years.
Next board meeting is March 23rd at 8pm.
