The Board of Education of #2171 met in regular session at 8:00 p.m. in the Kittson Central boardroom. Members present were Eric Ristad, Crisa Mortenson, Mike Olsonawski, Matt Kuznia, Teal Plaine, and Mark Johnson. Also present were Superintendent Jaszczak, Anna Jauhola and Stephanie Hanson.
The meeting was called to order by Ristad. The agenda was approved by Olsonawski, second by Mortenson. Motion carried. Minutes from June 15th, 2022 were presented. Motion to accept minutes by Mortenson, second by Kuznia. Motion carried. The bills having been audited and found correct were ordered to be paid. Post payment bills (hand payables) were approved for $143,866.17. Prepayment bills of $203,578.32. Activity Fund Balance of $73,305.86. Payroll Electronic Fund Transfers in the amount of $276,165.17. Payroll Checks in the amount of $45,477.62.

A recommendation to approve the hot lunch prices for the school year 2022-23 with increases:

A recommendation to approve accepting the fuel bid from Johnson Oil for the school year 2022-23. Motion to approve by Kuznia, second Plaine. Motion carried with Johnson abstaining.
A recommendation to approve the milk bid from Prairie Farms was presented. Motion to approve Mortenson, second Olsonawski. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the rate for substitute teacher pay to $125 per day as presented. Motion to approve Kuznia, second Olsonawski. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the mileage reimbursement rates to align with federal reimbursement rates. The rate is currently $0.625 per mile. Motion to approve Johnson, second Mortenson. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the staff meal reimbursement rates for meetings as follows:

A recommendation to approve the Long Term Facilities Management application as presented. Each year a ten year plan is made based on revenue and expenditures. Motion to approve Plaine, second Johnson. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the MSEA non-certified Contract for 2022-24 was presented. Motion to approve Kuznia, second Plaine. Motion carried with Ristad abstaining.
A recommendation to approve the contracts of confidential employees Judy Shuck and Amanda Younggren was presented. They mirror the non-certified settlement. Motion to approve Mortenson, second Olsonawski. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the hiring of Gracie Whitlock as the junior high volleyball coach was presented. Motion to approve Mortenson, second Plaine. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the 2022-23 student handbooks as presented. There was some language clean up, bell schedule updates, personnel changes, and ticket price adjustments, etc. Motion to approve Plaine, second Olsonawski. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve the return to school plan for the upcoming school year. It was originally introduced in the fall of 2020, it has been updated with COVID related factors of quarantining recommended by public health. Motion to approve Mortenson, second Kuznia. Motion carried.
A recommendation to approve Policies:

524-Internet Acceptable Use and Safety Policy
Motion to approve Johnson, second Plaine. Motion carried.
A recommendation to hire Patrick Sobolik for the janitorial position was presented. He has janitorial experience along with a variety of other job experience. Motion to approve Mortenson, second Kuznia. Motion carried.
Superintendent Jaszczak talked about how the building was looking really good. Floors are done. Camp Art is next week, along with Emily’s Dance Studio’s show on Wednesday in the auditorium. Fall sports are about to start up. He is still looking to hire one paraprofessional. Teacher workshops and training for paras are also coming up. The student count for fall is looking at around 230. There is still a need for a hockey coach and the discussions of hockey Bantams are still ongoing. Signup numbers will be the determining factor in the decision to have Bantams or a high school JV program this winter.
Next board meeting is August 24th at 8pm.
