Beverly Jean (Harmison) Hewitt Looney, 90

Beverly Jean (Harmison) Hewitt Looney, 90, of Morristown, Ariz., died Nov. 23, 2022, near her home. Her death, along with her husband Col. Robert C. Looney, was the result of a car accident.
Beverly was born on July 29, 1932, in Ogden, Utah. She was raised in Big Piney, Wyo., on her parent’s ranch on the Green River, with her six siblings. After graduating high school, she studied business administration at Central Business College in 1952 and had numerous jobs throughout her life, which include: high school secretary, legal secretary, Air Force secretary, U.S. Customs administrative officer and U.S. Customs inspector.
After retirement, she held the office of Kittson County commissioner. She was highly respected in her community and had a strong passion for politics. She was invited to the White House on numerous occasions and was also sought after by political parties to run for higher offices in Minnesota.
In 1951, she was married to Floyd Lee Hewitt until he passed away in 2003. During that time, she greatly enjoyed the farm life and raising their beloved children (Cindy, Karen and Jim), on their cattle ranch in Lancaster, Minn. Along with being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she also enjoyed oil painting, traveling, hunting, gardening, square dancing, live music and always prioritized spending time with her friends and family.
In 2006, she married Robert C. Looney. They spent their time between homes in Sterling, Alaska, on the Kenai River, and Morristown. Together, they enjoyed each other’s companionship, spending most of their time fishing, hunting, entertaining guests and traveling.
Beverly is sure to be remembered by her classy style, generous heart, witty storytelling, bold and confident stature, strong spirit and genuinely caring for others. She was one to cherish her dear friends and treated them like family. She enjoyed her close-knit Bible study group and her church family at Morristown Christian Fellowship Church.
She is survived by: her daughter, Karen (Rodney Koop); son, Jim (Kelli) Hewitt; 94 grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by: her parents, Artdith Esther (Harmison) Payne and Warren Edward Harmison; husband, Floyd Lee Hewitt; daughter, Cynthia Hendrickson; brothers, Jimmy, Johnny and Rodger; sisters, Betty, Barbara and Linda.
