Charles Petersburg, 64, of Lancaster, Minn., passed away at his cabin on March 1, 2023.
Chuck was born Oct. 13, 1958, in Hallock, Minn., the son of Robert and Mary Ann (Lindegard) Petersburg. He grew up in Kennedy, Minn., and was baptized and confirmed in Maria Lutheran Church. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1977. After completing his education at EGF Tech. for carpentry, Chuck worked as a carpenter in several area communities including Hallock, Clearbrook and Bemidji.
Chuck was united in marriage to Marlene (Rominski) of Argyle, Minn., on Nov. 23, 1979. Together they had three sons. In 1992, Chuck moved from Salol, Minn., to his cabin (aka The Church) northeast of Lancaster. In 2001, he met his life partner Joy Walberg and moved to Clearbrook, Minn. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working the sugar beet harvest in the fall, and spending time at the cabin sitting around the fire with family, friends, and his beloved dog Bear!
He is survived by his sons, Ryan of Warroad, Minn., Brad (Billie) of Roseau, Minn., and Tyler of Karlstad, Minn.; a granddaughter, Brylie; a step grandson, Logan Edberg; a sister, Roberta Petersburg, Hallock; brother, Jerry Petersburg, Grand Forks, N.D.; nephew, Jeremy Petersburg, Dilworth, Minn.; a grand-niece, Avlynn Petersburg; his significant other, Joy Walberg and her children, Heidi, Daniel and Chrissy.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Mary Ann; and brother-in-law, Keith Johnston
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. in Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy. Visitation will be held in the church for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Galen Nordin, presiding; special music provided by Rev. Nordin. Honorary pall bearers will be Ryan, Brad and Tyler Petersburg, Jeremy Petersburg and Logan Edberg. Private interment services will be held at a later date.
