Goldie Johnson, 86

Goldie L. Johnson, 86, of Kennedy, Minn. passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023.
Goldie was born in Walsh County, N.D. on Sept. 1, 1936, the daughter of Clifford and Blanche (Switzer) Nicholson. She grew up on the family farm near Bowesmont, N.D. and attended Bowesmont Public School graduating May 28, 1954. She attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, N.D. and then worked at Lilligard’s store in Drayton, N.D.
Goldie met her future husband, Harvey Russell Johnson at the Drayton City Hall. They were united in marriage on Oct. 29, 1955. They moved to Waynesville, Mo. for two years and returned to the Robin/Kennedy area to raise their family.
Goldie was employed by the Kennedy Public School for 20 years and loved her job working in the cafeteria. She has many fond memories of her coworkers and all the kids coming through the lunch line. Goldie was a member of the Kennedy Evangelical Covenant Church Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Kennedy Center and loved playing bingo there every week.
Goldie is survived by her husband, Harvey of Kennedy; siblings Leola (Tom) Russo, Norman (Bev) Nicholson, Gerald (Lynette) Nicholson, her children Valerie (Henry) Escareno, Kennedy; Beverly Ballenger, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Janet Johnson, Napa, Calif.; Ron (Michelle) Johnson, Hallock, Minn.; Cheryl Schuh, Napa, Jeannie (Kevin) Masters, Napa and Vanessa (Levi Otis) Bring, Argusville, N,D.; grandchildren; Steven (Cat Miller) Escareno, Rick Escareno, Lissa Meyer, Alex Ballengerm Jessica (Kirk) Schroeder, Cody (Katie) Johnson, Maggie Schuh, Logan, and Mason Banducci, Arden, Theron, and Shelby Bring, Heather (Karl) Johnson, Heidi (Todd) Carlson, Hayley Klegstad; great-grandchildren, Willow, Gordon, Elliot, Harvey, Kallum, Dante, Remi, Alex, Anthony, Grant (Karley), Maddie, Cooper and Tucker, Shaylea Otis, special friend Kevin Ballenger and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents Cliff and Blanche, sisters, Janice and Bonnie, her dear niece Erika and granddaughter, Rachel.
Funeral services were held at the Kennedy Evangelical Covenant Church, Kennedy, Tuesday April 11, 2023; visitation 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. Interment will be later this summer at Bowesmont Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kennedy Evangelical Covenant Church or the Kennedy Center.
