KCC boys golf finishes season with Section 8A meet

By Trent Jerome, coach
On Tuesday, May 30, Jameson Turner and Jaydon Nordin of the Kittson County Central Boys’ Golf team, participated in the first day of the Section 8A meet at Bemidji.
Turner and Nordin had back-to-back tee times that started early in the morning with some beautiful Minnesota golf weather.
However, half way through the first 9, a lightning storm rolled in and play was suspended for over an hour. Once golf resumed, the weather was beautiful and it could not have been a better day on the course.
Nordin posted a score of 106 and Turner carded a 93. The individual state qualifying scored was at 83 after Day 1, so, the boys had some work to do.
To start day two, the weather again was beautiful. The boys’ mission for the day was to beat their scores from the prior day and finish the season on a positive note. After the first half of golf, the KCC boys were on track to make big strides from the previous day. After 9, Tuner shot 43 and Nordin shot 49. They each needed a solid back 9 to help them meet their goals.
Turner finished with a 92, tying for 22nd place, while Nordin finished with a 95 and finished 33rd overall. The boys had a successful season and they are motivated to try to make it back to the section meet next season.
