Peter Winston Dahl, 62

Peter Winston Dahl, 62, of Belleville, Kan., died on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at his home.
Peter was born on Nov. 1, 1960, in Hallock, Minn. He was the fourth child of Byron and Betsey Dahl. His three siblings remember standing on the sidewalk outside their mother’s hospital room window as she held newborn Peter in her arms for them to see him for the first time.
Peter’s early life was filled with fun on the farm outside of Kennedy, Minn. He attended school in Kennedy and graduated in 1978. He then obtained an associate’s degree from UMC in Crookston, Minn.
Peter then turned to farming and helped his father Byron with planting and harvesting of wheat and sugar beets. He ultimately took over the farming when Byron retired.
Peter’s life took a good turn when he moved to Belleville, Kan., about 20 years ago. He worked at a dairy farm for awhile and then on a paving road crew.
He developed his business Peter Dahl Creations, which was an antique furniture refinishing business. He had learned this trade from his father Byron and loved making old furniture beautiful again.
Peter’s health problems started in 2015 when he fell off a ladder and broke several back and rib bones. The last three years were especially difficult and he had six major surgeries. Peter displayed strength of spirit during these last years and surprised his physicians by his fortitude and sense of humor. His physical heart was weak, but his loving heart was strong.
Peter is survived by: his daughter, Desiree Dahl Colombo; his son, Jeremy King; his two sisters, Cynthia Maloney (Dan Maloney) and Nancy Dahl (Michael Hannon); and sister-in-law, Vickie Dahl; nephews and nieces: Matthew Dahl (Tifanii), Emily Thompson (BJ), Lesley Miller (Nate), David Maloney (Sarah), Paul Maloney (Megan), Colin Hannon (Sheila); many loved grand nieces and nephews; many first and second cousins; many friends he made in Belleville who have been so helpful to him these last years; and his ornery cat Tess has found a good new home.
He was predeceased by: his brother, Conrad McCulloch Dahl; and his parents, Betsey and Byron Dahl.
Services will be arranged at a later time. Please remember Peter’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
