Myron Peterson, 91
Myron Peterson, 91, of Lancaster, Minn., passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, Minn., on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023.
Myron Anhilm Peterson was born Oct. 27, 1931, in Granville Township of Kittson, County, Minn., the son of Anhilm and Myrtle Peterson. He attended country school through the eighth grade, then began working on the family farm. On July 16, 1960, he was united in marriage to Patricia Carroll at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hallock. The couple lived in Minneapolis until 1965 when they moved to Hallock. Myron worked for Andy Lyberg and Raymond Carlson at the Mileage in Hallock and began farming as well. Myron and Pat lived for a short time near Hallock before moving to their current home in Granville Township.
Myron had many trades throughout his life, farming, hauling lumber to mills in eastern Minnesota and mechanic work. He semiretired in 2019 and kept busy on the farm and clearing snow for his neighbors during the winter months. Myron enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.
He is survived by: his wife, Patricia; children, Cathy (Jerome) Kujawa, Argyle, Minn., Paul Peterson, Lancaster, Robert (Julie) Peterson, Lancaster and Jeanine (Carl) Aaron, Peyton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald (Mary) Peterson, Deer River, Minn.; and sister, Arlyce Murray, San Jose, Calif.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Richard Peterson; brother, Maitland; and sisters, Florence Westerberg, Delores Lyberg and Marlene Wallenberg.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. in Sion Lutheran Church, Lancaster. Interment was in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster. Visitation was held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Andy Graves, presiding; Diane Rice, soloist and Galen Nordin, soloist. Honorary pall bearers were Myron’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
