Richard A. Dykhuis, 75

Richard A. Dykhuis, 75, of Appleton, Wis., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023.
He was born on April 7, 1948, to the late Simon and Muriel (Easter) Dykhuis in Hallock, Minn. On Sept. 9, 1967, he married Muriel Christenson. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting and worked for many years as an accountant in the paper industry.
Dick loved being outdoors, fishing or out working in his shop. He enjoyed gardening; it was the closest to farming he could get in the city. He had a love for antique tractors and went to several tractor shows. Dick loved to spend time with is grandchildren above all else. He is loved and will be missed.
He is survived by: his wife of almost 56 years, Muriel; children, Eric (Cassandra) Dykhuis, Jeffrey (Kathryn) Dykhuis and Renae (Craig) Solverson; grandchildren, Amy, Natalie, Roman, Nora, Ellie, Wyatt, Anna and Cailin; his brother, Bill (Marge) Dykhuis; nieces and nephews, Debra, Michele, Lisa, Brent, Tim, Tammy and Duane as well as other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by: his parents; his son, Bryan Dykhuis; and sister, Beverly (Richard) Kukowski.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, the family would like donations in Richard’s memory be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of ThedaCare Regional Medical Center Appleton ICU unit for the wonderful care given to Dick as well as their special neighbor, Al Cummings for everything you have done for them.
