The Bearcats took on Warren-Alvarado-Oslo Ponies at home in Hallock on Thursday, Oct. 12. After losing a close one in Goodridge the week before, KCC was ready to showcase their abilities going into the back half of the season. Against W-A-O they did just that from beginning to end.
The scoring started in the first quarter with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Dylon Warnke to Ty Vig at the corner of the end zone. The 2-point conversion was good with a run by Morgan Muir to take an 8-0 lead early in the first. Later in the quarter, Ashton Knutson broke free for a 41-yard touchdown run to extend the lead. Muir added another 2-point conversion run to make it 16-0 after the first quarter.
The Bearcats were not content, and continued to add onto their lead in the second quarter. Halfway through the quarter, Morgan Muir got free on the outside and ran 20 yards for the score. The 2-point conversion was no good, and the lead was now 22-0. Late in the quarter, W-A-O was starting deep in their own territory, and trying to find a way to build on something positive before half. With less than 2 minutes to go they tried a trick play for a big pass down field, but Dylon Warnke intercepted the pass and gave KCC the ball with a short field to work with. The offense executed their 2-minute offense and scored with seconds left on the clock with a pass from Warnke to Vig again. Muir added on the 2-point conversion and KCC took a 30-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Bearcat defense continued to play tough as they didn’t let W-A-O find any rhythm to their offense. The Ponies made adjustments also, and KCC had some drives stall out in the second half.
In the fourth quarter, Zander Anderson got on the scoring list himself with a 1-yard touchdown run and he also converted the 2-point conversion to make the final score 38-0.
The JV squad got some play time in the final minutes and finished out the game. This team has shown a lot of growth the last few games, and for their last regular season home game they got to show that to their fans.
The final game of the regular season is Wednesday, Oct. 18 in Erskine against Win-E-Mac. The game is at 7 p.m. Come on down and support the team into the final push before playoffs.
