November 28, 2018
The Board of Education of #2171 met in regular session November 28, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. in the Kittson Central boardroom. Members present were Crisa Mortenson, Mike Olsonawski, Katie Langen, Eric Ristad and Mark Johnson. Also present were Superintendent Jaszczak, Jami Carr,  Stacie Johnson, Lindsey Gullickson, Amanda Pinnock, Anna Jauhola and Stephanie Hanson.
The meeting was called to order by Kuznia.  The agenda was approved by Johnson,  seconded by Olsonawski. Motion carried. Minutes from October 24, 2018 and Canvassing meeting November 15 were presented. Motion to accept minutes by Ristad, second by Langen. Motion carried. The bills having been audited and found correct were ordered to be paid. Post payment bills (hand payables) were approved for $19,167.68. Prepayment bills for $60,428.03. Payroll Electronic Fund Transfers in the amount of $238,828.03, Payroll Checks in the amount of $294,806.83. Donations of $550.00.

on a motion to approve by Johnson, second by Mortenson. Motion carried.
There were a number of comments made about how great the Dallas Brass concert was and hope that events of similar quality can be found in the future.
A sports cooperative meeting was held. Discussed fall sports and the upcoming winter sports. Number of participants in boys basketball was discussed with the low numbers.
Mrs. Carr talked about how the winter sports were just getting underway with the following week really amping up.
Tracee Bruggeman was there to present the audit via Skype. The auditors had an unmodified opinion for the year. The general fund  The risks listed were segregation of duties, financial evaluations and reconciliation of bond account. T. Motion to accept the audit Mortenson, second Ristad. Motion carried.
The World’s Best Workforce Summary was presented. This summarizes the comparisons of testing, graduation rate throughout the state.   Motion to approve by Ristad, second by Langen. Motion carried.
Resignation of Elementary teacher, Jillayne Kraska was presented. She is retiring effective Dec. 20th.  She is interested in a return to work scenario, but that will be addressed at a later time. Motion to approve Olsonawski, second Mortenson. Motion carried.
2018-2020 Confidential Employees Contract was presented. Typically they follow the non-certified which is 3% increase both years. Motion to approve Langen, second Olsonawski. Motion carried.
Superintendent Jaszczak talked about the new front door addition and the progress made. There is some missing glass but that should be added shortly. There will be a video monitor added to the office and a call system added, so that people will need to buzz to have access to the building. The Dallas Brass concert was a great success and the public thoroughly enjoyed it. The elementary Christmas program is Friday, November 30th. There will be two showings, one at 1:30 in the afternoon and the other at 7 p.m. There are provisions to allow the kids to maintain their appearance for the afternoon program, with just a walking PE and lunch period. He hopes to have a good showing to allow for the evening performance to have sufficient seating. There are a few things left to finish on the auditorium so the full payment hasn’t been made until all are completed. There was a superintendent meeting recently and the legislature was discussed and what to expect going forward. Also, the state budget forecast is due out next week. MSBA is January 18-20 and he is looking for anyone interested in attending. Amanda Pinnock will attend Phase 1 training on Dec. 5th with Superintendent Jaszczak.
Next meeting is December 19th at 8pm.
