The Board of Education of #2171 met in regular session February 27, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. in the Kittson Central boardroom. Members present were Mike Sugden,  Crisa Mortenson, Mike Olsonawski, Amanda Pinnock, Eric Ristad, Matt Kuznia and Mark Johnson. Also present were Superintendent Jaszczak, Tasha Dahl, Kim Jones, Margie Holmgren and Stephanie Hanson.
The meeting was called to order by Sugden. The agenda was approved by Johnson,  seconded by Ristad. Motion carried. Minutes from January 30, 2018 were presented. Motion to accept minutes by Mortenson, second by Olsonawski. Motion carried. The bills having been audited and found correct were ordered to be paid. Post payment bills (hand payables) were approved for $131,246.65. Prepayment bills for $54,536.59. Payroll Electronic Fund Transfers in the amount of $529,383.69, Payroll Checks in the amount of $41,828.34. Donations of $489.15.

on a motion to approve by Johnson, second by Kuznia. Motion carried.
Mrs. Carr wasn’t able to attend but Superintendent Jaszczak talked about winter sports seasons wrapping up with the hockey team making a good showing in Thief River and the girls basketball team playing in crookston tomorrow. The boys basketball team will play next week Thursday. The elementary staff and Mrs. Carr are working on the breakdown of subjects for the compartmentalization of grades 4-6 and possibility of needing furniture to make this work. Looking at the new math curriculums and getting feedback from the teachers.
The amended FY19 final budget was presented with a couple revisions from the December presented budget. Motion to approve Mortenson second by Pinnock. Motion carried.
The second reading of the 600 Series Policies with some language changes. These policies deal with educational programs. Motion to approve by Ristad second by Olsonawski. Motion carried.
The first reading of the 500 Series Policies were presented. These policies deal primarily with students. Motion to approve by Mortenson, second by Ristad. Motion carried.
A motion to hire Bailey Peterson as an elementary teacher with placement in 1st grade was presented. Bailey comes with 3 years of teaching experience. Motion to approve Olsonawski, second by Kuznia. Motion carries.
A motion to hire Kalli Peterson as an elementary teacher with placement in Kindergarten was presented. Motion to approve Mortenson second by Pinnock. Motion carried.
Motion to hire Owen Swenson as the head janitor was presented with a start date of March 18th. Motion to approve Ristad, second Kuznia. Motion carried.
Superintendent Jaszczak talked about a couple events booked in the auditorium. The Squirts host districts and asked to show a movie on Saturday to give an option of something to do for people. The Hallock Mainstreet Committee is meeting on March 7. Mathcounts is heading to Fargo next Wednesday and the state qualifying students leave from there and head to the cities. The school social worker, Kris Heine, is retiring at the end of this year. Lancaster school will be posting the job opening this spring. Unsure at this time if it will continue with 3 schools utilizing the services or drop to two schools. The facility walk around last spring showed that some of the carpets need replacing. He is having someone come to give some estimates on cost of  replacement. He will also be visiting the legislature with Region 8 on March 19th.
Next meeting will be March 27th at 8pm.
