Council looking for update on spring start for streets
By Anna Jauhola
Although it snowed again last week, the Hallock City Council is already thinking about the completion of the street project. Contractors will be back in town when the weather allows to not only put the final lift of asphalt on the street they completed, but also to finish work they didn’t complete last fall.
“I don’t want to be having us wondering when they’re coming,” said Councilor Kevin Waller at the April 6 meeting.
There are sections of street that Spruce Valley Corporation, the contractor, said would have to be demolished and redone this year because the ground was so soft. The street project didn’t start last summer until well into June, more than a month behind schedule. Waller is worried this may happen again and insisted on better communication this year.
“I want a commitment, just so we have an idea of what’s happening,” Waller said. “I don’t want somebody else to get a commitment ahead of us, and we just keep getting kicked down the road.”
