Compost site is not for garbage

In recent months, the city of Hallock has struggled with people dumping garbage materials at the compost site on the southwest edge of town. Most recently, officials have found garbage, oil containers, plastic cups, Styrofoam and other garbage items.
Last year, the city put up cameras at the site after they found the same issue was happening.
The city just asks that people dispose of their trash via Anderson Sanitation, or directly at the MarKit Landfill.
“When visiting the compost site, please drive as close to the main pile as possible before unloading. This helps keep the site organized and accessible for all users,” reads the city’s Facebook post. “Security cameras are in operation, and violators will be cited. Continued misuse of the site may result in additional restrictions or enforcement measures.”
The compost site is for grass, leaves and branches. Please use it accordingly.
