Bearcats hockey ties with MayPort Ice Dawgs

After a tough first game loss to the Crookston Pirates, the Kittson County Central boys hockey team were ready to battle back against the MayPort Ice Dawgs.
With both teams coming out hard in the first period, the game was scoreless until the 6-minute mark of the second period when KCC’s Jaxton Hemmes scored his first varsity goal, putting the Bearcats up 1-0.
Two minutes later, the Ice Dawgs answered back with an even strength goal from John Mattson to tie it up 1-1.
Going into the third period, Gavin Johnson of KCC scored with a shot from the point to put the Bearcats ahead 2-1. While the Ice Dawgs put on pressure to try and tie the game again, they were able to sneak 1 in on KCC to make it a 2-2 game, going into overtime.
After a hard-fought, scoreless overtime, the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

2nd Period — Scoring: KCC – Hemmes Goal (even strength) 6:26; MP – Mattson Goal (even strength) (Schreiner) 9:08. Penalties: None. Goalie Changes: None.
3rd Period — Scoring: KCC – Johnson Goal (even strength) (Finney, Przekwas) 7:55; MP – Anderson Goal (even strength) (Czapiewski, Heskin) 8:36. Penalties: None. Goalie Changes: None.
OT1 Period — Scoring: None. Penalties: None. Goalie Changes: None.
