MIDCO looking to relocate equipment to water tower

As Hallock’s landscape continues to change, so do the locations of broadband technology.
During the Hallock City Council meeting on Monday, March 2, Rick Kroll of MIDCO, presented a plan to place transmitters on top of the water tower. Currently, MIDCO’s transmission equipment is on top of the elevator owned by North Prairie Ag.
“We received news that might not be an option for us in the near future,” Kroll said. “There may be some changes within that location and not having power there.”
Kroll said MIDCO has served the area for more than 20 years, having started out as Invisimax. The equipment he requested to install on the water tower includes four sector antennas, three backhaul dishes, a fiber enclosure box and cable to power them. There would also be a temporary backhaul dish pointed toward the elevator, which will help with the transition.
This equipment helps transmit to other receivers and transmitters on the Kennedy tower and on the rural water tower by Humboldt.
