Lancaster board focuses on baseball field fundraising
By Jack Waters
The Lancaster School Board met Monday, June 15 and explained a statewide rate increase request from Otter Tail and recognized an extensive list of public donors to the Baseball Field Project, with upcoming fundraisers organized for the upcoming Heritage Days celebration.
The official notification from Otter Tail Power showed a formal request with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission to increase rates an average of a 17.69% increase across its customer base. A final state decision is delayed until early 2027, though an interim rate hike of 11.34% was granted. There were public hearings held the first week of June, but MPUC still welcomes submitted public comments until Monday, Sept. 21 via mn.gov/puc.
Lancaster Heritage Days campaigns for the Baseball Field Project will include a 50-50 raffle, baseball bingo cards, buy-a-square cards, and a corn dog meal at the Community Center. PoDCo provided a custom KCC fire ring, which will be raffled with the winner announced following the golf course meal. Ford is sponsoring a “Drive 4UR Community” event, donating up to $6,000 via signatures from those who take test drives during the event.
