Hearing reset in Caribou Grill arson, fraud case

By Enterprise Staff
A Kennedy woman accused of arson and insurance fraud did not appear in court on Monday, March 18 as previously scheduled.
Tamara DeVore, 50, was supposed to appear Monday, March 18, but on Tuesday, March 12, her defense attorney filed a document for a notice of hearing change, said Assistant County Attorney Richard Lee.
According to the Register of Actions for DeVore’s case on the Minnesota Trial Court Public Access site, an omnibus hearing has been scheduled for Monday, May 13.
This type of hearing is often held for a judge to make rulings on evidentiary issues, Lee said.
DeVore was arrested Friday, Feb. 22 after her restaurant, the Caribou Grill, sustained heavy smoke damage from a fire in the storage room. DeVore is accused of having started the fire, and subsequently of attempting to file a fraudulent insurance claim.
No other information has been filed in the case.
