Bearcats hockey defeats Panthers, Wolverines

The Kittson County Central Bearcats hockey team traveled to Walker on Monday, March 1 to play the Park Rapids Panthers.
Tyler Bakken, Hayden Hennen and Landon Sugden led the Bearcats to a 6-0 win, each scoring 2 goals themselves.
The first period was off to a slow start with 2 goals scored by Bakken late to end the period, 1 assisted by Timothy Johnson, and the other assisted by H. Hennen.
The Bearcats started off the second period stronger, with a short-handed goal scored by Sugden, assisted by H. Hennen. To end the second period, KCC had 1 more goal, scored by H. Hennen and assisted by Hayden Olsonawski.
During the third period, the Bearcats had 2 more goals scored only a minute apart. The first goal was scored by Sugden, assisted by Izyk Strege, and the second goal was scored by H. Hennen, assisted by Luke Misson. For the Bearcats, Wyatt Olsonawski had 15 saves, leaving the Bearcats with a 6-0 win.

The Bearcats finished off the week with a home game against the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines on Saturday, March 6, winning 5-2.
Adam Gustafson led the Bearcats with 3 goals for the night.
W-DC started off the game with a goal toward the end of the first period. Before the first period ended, the Bearcats answered back with an unassisted goal scored by Tyler Hennen.
During the second period, Gustafson had 3 goals, 1 assisted by T. Hennen, 1 unassisted, and the last assisted by Hayden Olsonawski and T. Hennen.
The Wolverines also scored another goal in the second period, having the score of 4-2 ending the period. KCC ended the game 5-2 with a fifth, unassisted goal scored by Hayden Hennen. The Bearcats’ Wyatt Olsonawski had 25 saves for the game.
