Former Hallock Co-Op Elevator demolished

THE SOUTH ANNEX of the former Hallock Co-op Elevator left a mess along Highway 75 and surprised a lot of people with a massive cloud of years of grain dust. The Forest River Colony, of Fordville, N.D., is heading up the demolition and closed off the portion of Fourth Street from Highway 75 west across the railroad tracks to Bryan Avenue. Mayor Dave Treumer said the city received no notification this was going to happen and didn’t get a request to close that city street. He also said the cloud of dust totally impaired visibilty in the vicinity for at least 2 minutes. Treumer’s business, Crop Insurance Associates, is across from the structure.
