Council approves flooring upgrades, disucsses culvert

By Jack Waters
Lancaster City Council’s May 13 meeting focused on a few upcoming community improvement projects. Approval was made to request a $2,500 donation from the American Legion Post #214 Gambling Fund to assist with a flooring project at the golf course. City Clerk Janet Johnson said the Lancaster Riverside Golf Course sent a letter that said the project was initially intended to be completed with volunteer labor, but the condition of the floor was such that it now requires professional assistance to ensure the job is done correctly and can be guaranteed.
The council also discussed a request from Lancaster Housing Solutions for a permanent culvert on the west side of Alaska Street. They initially considered potentially sharing the costs, but without the actual figures or the scope of the whole project, they ultimately tabled the matter to gather more specific data regarding the required culvert size and total installation costs.
