Timothy “Tim” Curtis Johnson, 69

Timothy “Tim” Curtis Johnson, 69, of Lenor, Idaho, formerly of Kennedy, Minn., passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2024.
Tim was born to Lamar and Audrey Johnson on Jan. 19, 1955, at Fort Belvoir, Va., U.S. Army base hospital.
Tim grew up on the family farm in Jupiter Township, Kennedy, where he enjoyed playing with his cousins, fishing with his grandfather Louie Spilde and traveling with his grandparents, Clarence and Edith Johnson.
Tim was active in 4-H and FFA, and held several leadership positions locally and statewide. He graduated from Karlstad High School where he played basketball, was in the band and sang in the choir. Tim was selected for the Minnesota All-State Choir his senior year, which involved traveling and performing at various events throughout the state. Following high school, Tim attended the University of Minnesota Crookston.
A favorite hobby he enjoyed was showing horses in 4-H and local saddle club events.
Tim farmed with his father and raised market hogs and beef before moving to Clarkston, where he opened a TEAM Electronic store in the Lewiston mall. During the summer, Tim led whitewater rafters down Hells Canyon on the Snake River. He had the cooks raft and was responsible for planning, preparing and serving the guests. From the stories that were told, one would conclude that Tim found his niche in life.
Tim taught himself to drive semi and haul everything imaginable north to south, east to west. He hauled grain, livestock, logs, rocks, produce, frozen food and even horses from a studio in Los Angeles. Tim made another career move and spent a number of years traveling the country designing and installing telecommunications hubs.
Tim was gifted in many ways. He could fix anything, build anything and paint anything that stood still, with a gift to see a project completed and the patience to see it through.
Tim traveled to all 50 states except Maine for work and returned home with a grateful heart that God allowed him to live in the Pacific Northwest. Making friends all along the way, Tim never let an opportunity go by that he would introduce his best friend to others, Jesus. He had one word that simplified the relationship, “participate”; somehow it always lightened the burden that people were carrying.
Tim remained in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley until he retired in Ocean View, Hawaii, where he adapted to a new menu, giving up potatoes and beef for rice and fresh fish.
Tim enjoyed hosting dinners and loved preparing meals for family and friends, especially during the holidays. He had a reputation for calling neighbors up and hosting a spontaneous potluck dinner, which he always enjoyed.
After a number of years in Hawaii, Tim reluctantly participated with God’s plan and moved his family back to Lenor, all the while hoping to return to the Big Island.
Tim is survived by: his wife Sue of 42 years; sons, BenJamin Johnson, Andrew (Cenone) Johnson and Adam (Carrie) Johnson; daughters, Jodie Claypool, Codie Deyo and Melanie (Sam) Cook; nine grandchildren; mother, Audrey Johnson; sisters, Stephanie Johnson, and Suzanne (Robert) Bowen; and brother Nathan (Lisa) Johnson.
Tim was preceded in death by his father LaMar Johnson.
Tim’s final resting place will be in Hawaii.
In lieu of flowers, please support the local 4-H and FFA children in your area in memory of Tim.
