Billy L. Dexter, 61

Billy L. Dexter, 61, of Grand Forks, N.D., and Moorhead, Minn., passed away on Sept. 21, 2024, at his home in Moorhead.
Billy Lyle Dexter was born on Nov. 6, 1962, in Hallock, Minn., the son of Lyle and Jane (Boychuk) Dexter. Billy grew up on the family farm with his parents, sister and brothers. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hallock. He attended school at Humboldt-St. Vincent School District, graduating in 1981.
Billy was employed by the school district as a bus driver for two years. He went on to attend Moorhead State University and graduated from Joseph’s School of Cosmetology in Fargo, N.D. He was employed as a cosmetologist in Fargo, Moorhead and Grand Forks area salons for number of years, until retiring in 2020. Billy was an excellent cook and hosted many lovely parties for family and friends. He loved his pets, especially dogs and cats. Billy enjoyed his summers at Big Lake in Minnesota and traveling to Mexico and Arizona in the winter months. He was a collector of many things and always loved a good bargain.
He is survived by: his mother, Jane Dexter; partner, Rick Rasmusson; siblings, Sue Adkins, Larry Dexter and Tim Dexter; sister-in-law, Loretta Lettenmaier; an aunt, Sonia Erickson; step-children; nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his father and a nephew, Evan Adkins.
Billy will always be remembered in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel with a family greeting one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Saturday.
Interment will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Riverside Cemetery, Lancaster, Minn.
