Board approves beaver dam removals on SD 84

Kittson County Commissioners, acting as the Drainage Authority, approved a quote to remove beaver dams from State Ditch 84 in the northeast corner of the county.
During a special meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 2, the commissioners met prior to the regular meeting. County Engineer Arthur Kukowski presented the quote and reason for removing the three dams. R&Q Trucking of Roseau quoted $2,000 to remove all three dams.
“On that southwest end of the ditch, that’s supposed to be a straight line and you can see from the image that it kind of goes all over the place with the beavers out there,” Kukowski said, referring to an aerial map of the area. “Where a lot of the work’s going to be concentrated is that last thousand feet.”
