Freddie Anderson, 94

Freddie Anderson, 94, Lake Bronson, Minn. passed away at Karlstad Healthcare Center, Karlstad, Minn. Tuesday, March 1, 2016.  
Freddie was born September 8, 1921 on the family farm in Section 21 of Jupiter Township, Kittson County, Minnesota to Elmer and Mary (Carlson) Anderson.  He was baptized in the Lutheran faith at East Emmaus and attended country school.  
For several harvest seasons, Freddie and his brother, Marvin, worked picking potatoes in Walhalla, N.D. and did field work on area farms.  In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Station.  After receiving an early discharge because of health reasons, he returned home and worked at the Dreher and Kiene Farms.  
On June 11, 1944 he was united in marriage to his childhood friend,  Evelyn Hastings. They settled in Goodridge, Minn. and in the fall moved to Thief River Falls, Minn. when Freddie began working for Nelson Trucking.  In the spring of 1945 they  came back to Kittson County and began working at the Edward Younggren farm in Northcote, Minn.  
Freddie and Evelyn bought a  farm southwest of Lake Bronson in 1949.  During the spring and summer Freddie worked at the Albert Borass farm and in the winter at the Dreher farm sorting potatoes.  Freddie purchased more land and enjoyed raising sheep, beef cattle, pigs and dairy cattle.  In their later years he and Evelyn spent their winters in Thief River Falls.  Freddie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Bronson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Violet Anderson, Thief River Falls; a son, ElRay, Underwood, Minn.; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Donafae Anderson, Hallock; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Shana Cieklinski; five brothers, Carl, Stanley, Leo, Allen and Marvin; sisters-in-law, Violet “Babe”, Eleanor, Mildred and Verna.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 5 at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church at Lake Bronson.  Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Pastor Kathy Levenhagen, presided; Corienne Jacobson, organist; special music, Wesley and Barbara Staie.
Honorary casket bearers were Lenny Olson, Bill Peterson, Leonel Anderson, Duane Anderson and all those in attendance.  Casket bearers were Joel Anderson, Tyler Foss, Dillon Cieklinski, Kyle Nelson, Dallas Nelson, Zak Gerszewski and Adam Anderson. Visitation was held at the church on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  
Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock was in charge of the arrangements.
