Philip Shawn Dow, 44

Philip Shawn Dow, 44, St. Vincent, Minn., passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home.
Philip was born February 22, 1972 in Waukegan, Ill. He lived and attended schools in Illinois, South Carolina and Georgia where he graduated from Hephzibah High School in 1990.
In August 1990, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force and became a Missile Maintenance Technician. Philip had basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Tex.  and tech school at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Ill. Philip was stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base, Grand Forks, N.D. with the 321 OMMS Missile Maintenance Squadron. While stationed there he met Jodi Plante. In February 1995, he left the United States Air Force and enlisted in the Georgia National Guard where he and his family lived in Augusta and Savannah.
On March 23, 1996, Philip married Jodi in Thompson, N.D. Philip and Jodi were blessed with three children, who were the light of his life. Philip’s children were his whole world and was extremely proud of them.
In January 2000, Philip joined U.S. Customs.  His family made their home in International Falls, Minn. In 2005, Philip transferred to the Pembina, N.D. Port of Entry, where he became a Chief for Customs and Border Protection. Philip and his family lived in rural St. Vincent.
Philip was an extremely hardworking man that was always determined to solve any problem he faced. He loved to joke around with his family and friends and had a smile that could put anyone at ease. No matter what was going on in Philip’s life he always made sure he was there for the people he cared for the most. Philip enjoyed spending time outdoors in the yard and pool in the summer. He was an avid reader and was proud to be a published author. The one thing he was born to be was a father to his Bubba K, Nate Dog and Diva. He loved and treasured his kids more than anything in the world, and they loved and adored their daddy. Philip was a kind, generous, devoted and loving man and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife Jodi; children, Kenneth, Nathaniel and Madalynn Dow, St. Vincent; parents, Carlene Glisson, Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Richard (Margaret) Dow, Waukegan; godparents, Tom and Terri Vann, Augusta, Ga.; brothers, James (Rhonda) Dow, Round Lake Beach, Ill.; Bobby (Elizabeth) Glisson, Columbia, S.C.;  Justin (Kay Huongraj) Vann, Augusta; sisters,  Tara (Michael) Perry, Lanett, Ala.; Rachel (Bill) Stiehle, Wake Forest, N.C.; Christina (Andrew) Reichl, Reidsville, N.C.; Karissa (Jeremy) Rodriguez, Augusta; Susan (Chad) Capitosti, Augusta; grandparents, Paul and Virginia Perez, Hialeah, Fla., nephews, Connor, Michael, Tim, Christopher, Jeremy, Justin, Jonathan, Joshua, Elijah, Adam, Cameron, Palmer and Odin; nieces, Alexis, Heather, Brianna, Shanna, Lucy, Victoria, Izabelle and Zoey; mother-in-law, Donna (Orville) Gunderson and sister-in-law, Lisa (Rick Hall) Plante.  
Philip was preceded in death by grandparents, Elton and Bettie Benton, granddaughter, Maybell Dow.
Services were held  Sunday, June 26, 2016, 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 312 South Birch Ave. Hallock, Minn. with visitation one hour prior to service. Rev. Frank Johnson, presiding; Renee Wahl, organist; Galen Nordin, soloist; Karen Vold and Jillayne Kraska, duet.
Casket bearers were Marty Eide, Marty Rasmussen, Rob Phillips, Kerry Malloy, Paul Gullicks, Greg Volk, Matt Gruenberg and Cody Steele.
Military honors weree accorded by the U.S. Customs and the North Dakota National Guard.
Austin Funeral Home, Hallock, was in charge of the arrangements.
